Islamabad – Mr. Imtiaz Ali Solangi, Member (Organizational Audit) of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR), has retired from government service upon attaining the age of superannuation.
A special Board-in-Council meeting was held today at FBR Headquarters to honor his long and exemplary contributions to the Government of Pakistan and the Federal Board of Revenue.
With a career spanning over 31 years in the Inland Revenue Service, Mr. Solangi served with exceptional dedication, professionalism, and expertise in tax administration, public policy, and financial management. He held several key positions, including Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Medium Taxpayer Office Karachi; Chief Commissioner Inland Revenue, Regional Tax Office Sargodha; Member Appellate Tribunal Inland Revenue Karachi; and Commissioner Inland Revenue in both Karachi and Islamabad.
Mr. Solangi is a Fulbright Scholar with a Master’s degree in International Economics & Finance from Brandeis University, USA. He also holds a Master’s degree in Economics from Shah Abdul Latif University, Khairpur, a Bachelor of Engineering (Electronics) from Mehran University of Engineering & Technology, and a Bachelor of Laws from SM Law College, Karachi.
He enhanced his professional skills through various prestigious local and international training programs, including courses at Harvard Kennedy School (USA), Korean Tax Policy Institute (Seoul, Korea), and The Academy for International Business Officials (AIBO), Beijing, China.
Throughout his tenure, Mr. Solangi made notable contributions in tax policy formulation, anti-money laundering frameworks, and public sector reforms. He was a member of the taskforce responsible for preparing the Benami Transactions (Prohibition) Rules, 2019, actively contributed to budget proposals for multiple fiscal years, and played a significant role in institutional reforms under the World Bank-supported Tax Administration Reform Program.
Chairman FBR, Mr. Rashid Mahmood Langrial, along with other Board Members, commended Mr. Solangi’s outstanding services and wished him success in his future endeavors. The Chairman presented a commemorative shield to the retiring officer in recognition of his distinguished career.
Mr. Solangi’s retirement marks the end of a remarkable journey of public service dedicated to strengthening Pakistan’s tax system and governance.
