Tehran – Pakistan and Iran have reaffirmed their commitment to achieving a bilateral trade target of $10 billion, with both sides agreeing to expand cooperation in agriculture, food security, and economic integration.
During a meeting in Tehran, Pakistan’s Federal Minister for National Food Security and Research, Rana Tanveer Hussain, conveyed Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision of boosting trade with Iran. He highlighted Pakistan’s readiness to increase exports of rice, corn, bananas, meat, and livestock, while offering Iran access to high-quality pesticides and agricultural products.
The Minister stressed that deeper collaboration in food security and climate resilience could serve as a catalyst for regional economic prosperity. He also underlined the importance of strengthening cultural and people-to-people ties.
Iran’s First Vice President, Dr. Mohammad Reza Aref, welcomed the proposals and reiterated Tehran’s commitment to the $10 billion trade goal. He assured that the next session of the Joint Economic Committee (JEC) would be convened soon to consolidate progress and explore new areas of cooperation.
Both sides expressed confidence that stronger economic and agricultural ties would contribute to regional stability and shared prosperity.
