LAHORE: Provincial Health Minister Balochistan, Bakht Muhammad Kakar, called on Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan at the Governor House Lahore, where both leaders discussed ongoing health sector projects and the importance of inter-provincial collaboration.
During the meeting, the Balochistan Health Minister briefed the Governor on reforms and development initiatives underway in the province’s healthcare system, particularly efforts to improve facilities in remote areas.
Governor Punjab emphasized that enhanced cooperation between provinces in the medical sector would significantly improve healthcare delivery across the country. He also stressed the importance of strengthening collaboration in the education sector, particularly among universities, to promote national development.
Highlighting the broader national context, the Governor said that balanced development across all four provinces is essential for Pakistan’s progress. He reiterated the government’s commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against terrorism, noting that security forces continue to make significant sacrifices in operations against militants in Balochistan.
He further stated that operations against “Indian-sponsored terrorists” in the province have been successful and deserve recognition.
On the political front, the Governor expressed confidence in the growing strength of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP), saying the party has been revitalized across the country. He voiced optimism that the PPP would perform strongly in the next general elections and that Bilawal Bhutto Zardari could emerge as Prime Minister.
Speaking on the occasion, Bakht Muhammad Kakar said the PPP-led government has upgraded healthcare centers in underserved areas of Balochistan over the past fifteen months. He added that the Benazir Ambulance Service has been formally launched and will soon expand to remote regions of the province.
Senior officials, including Professor Musawar Kakar, Professor Zia Panizai, and Dr. Abdul Rehman, were also present at the meeting.
