LAHORE: In a significant move to strengthen Pakistan-China ties and enhance welfare for Chinese nationals, the Pakistan China Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry, the Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Lahore, and Hameed Latif Hospital have jointly launched a collaborative healthcare initiative in Lahore.
The partnership aims to provide dedicated medical services to Chinese personnel and their families residing in the city. The initiative follows an Expression of Interest by Hameed Latif Hospital, offering comprehensive healthcare facilities including complimentary on-site outpatient department (OPD) sessions, priority consultations, diagnostic services, and preferential hospital care.
With the increasing presence of Chinese professionals, engineers, investors, and business representatives in Pakistan under various economic initiatives, the need for reliable healthcare support has grown significantly. The collaboration seeks to ensure a sense of safety, comfort, and well-being for Chinese nationals living and working in Lahore.
President PCJCCI, Nazir Hussain, welcomed the initiative and emphasized the importance of people-to-people connectivity. He noted that Pakistan and China share a longstanding and time-tested friendship, adding that ensuring the well-being of Chinese nationals is a shared responsibility that further strengthens bilateral cooperation.
Executive Director of Hameed Latif Hospital, Dr Haroon Latif Khan, expressed pride in extending healthcare services to the Chinese community, stating that the initiative represents both medical support and a symbol of enduring friendship between the two nations.
Meanwhile, Sun Yan, Consul General of China in Lahore, appreciated the effort, saying that such initiatives enhance confidence among Chinese nationals and promote a supportive environment for bilateral collaboration.
Secretary General PCJCCI, Salahuddin Hanif, also praised the partnership, highlighting its role in strengthening mutual cooperation, cultural understanding, and long-term ties between the people of Pakistan and China.
The stakeholders further agreed to explore future cooperation in areas such as medical awareness sessions, health camps, emergency support mechanisms, and wellness programs tailored for Chinese nationals and their families.
The initiative marks another milestone in Pakistan-China relations, reinforcing trust and promoting welfare-focused collaboration between the two countries.
