LAHORE: The Parks and Horticulture Authority Lahore has enhanced the beauty of the city’s iconic canal by installing vibrant cultural displays, in line with the vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif.
According to Managing Director Raja Mansoor Ahmed, the beautification project has been designed to highlight Punjab’s traditional and rural heritage while adding aesthetic value to the urban landscape.
He said a variety of artistic installations have been placed along the canal, including traditional bullock carts, boats set against wave-like structures, and Punjabi dolls depicting the folk dance “Kikli.” These elements aim not only to beautify the surroundings but also to connect younger generations with their cultural roots.
In addition, illuminated dolphin models have been installed in the canal, creating a visually appealing atmosphere, particularly at night.
Raja Mansoor Ahmed noted that the initiative reflects the provincial government’s broader vision of presenting Lahore as a green, vibrant, and culturally rich city on the global stage.
He added that PHA teams are working around the clock to improve the city’s public spaces, including squares, intersections, and major roads, to provide a more pleasant environment for residents.
