Warm atmosphere between delegations hailed as positive omen for success
ISLAMABAD,— The Pakistani capital has become the unlikely but pivotal stage for high-stakes diplomatic negotiations between Iran and the United States, with Pakistan serving as mediator in what observers are calling a landmark moment for regional and global peace.
Following months of intensive and successful Pakistani diplomacy, a temporary ceasefire was agreed upon, bringing both parties to the negotiating table in Islamabad — a development that has drawn the world’s attention to the South Asian capital.
The Iranian delegation, which arrived Thursday night, is led by Parliamentary Speaker Baqir Qalibaf and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi, accompanied by other senior officials. On Saturday morning, a high-level American delegation arrived, led by the US Vice President, and notably including Special Envoy Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner.
Both delegations were received by Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar and Field Marshal Asim Munir — a reception that itself signaled the gravity and optimism surrounding the talks.
The warm atmosphere, mutual respect, and cordial exchanges observed between host and guest delegations at the opening of talks are being widely described as an auspicious sign. International observers have called the convening of both sides a significant step toward peace and stability in the region.
“The positive and hopeful atmosphere provides a conducive foundation for result-oriented negotiations.”
