Washington —
Federal Finance Minister Senator Muhammad Aurangzeb announced on Wednesday that Saudi Arabia will transfer $3 billion in financial support to Pakistan by next week, providing a much-needed boost to the country’s foreign exchange reserves.
Speaking to media at the Pakistani Embassy in Washington, the Finance Minister said he held detailed discussions with his Saudi counterpart today, following an earlier meeting in Islamabad last Friday. The Saudi Finance Minister, he said, clearly confirmed that the $3 billion would be provided in the form of additional deposits.
Aurangzeb also highlighted that Pakistan had successfully made $1.4 billion in debt repayments last week and reaffirmed that all upcoming financial obligations would be met on time.
The development is expected to strengthen Pakistan’s economic stability and further consolidate its relationship with Riyadh at a critical juncture for the national economy.
