Tehran/Islamabad: Iranian Foreign Minister Seyyed Abbas Araghchi has engaged in high-level diplomatic conversations with Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir and Deputy Prime Minister/Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar amid ongoing efforts to stabilize the regional situation following recent US-Iran ceasefire developments.
According to reports, Araghchi welcomed Field Marshal Asim Munir during his visit to Tehran earlier this month. The two leaders held detailed discussions on bilateral relations, regional peace, and mediation efforts between Iran and the United States. Araghchi expressed delight at hosting the Pakistani delegation and thanked Pakistan for its role in hosting previous dialogue rounds. Separately, on Friday, Iranian state media (IRNA) reported that Foreign Minister Araghchi held telephone conversations with both Field Marshal Asim Munir and Ishaq Dar. The calls focused on the evolving regional situation, ceasefire-related matters, and concerns over alleged violations of the truce. Both sides agreed to maintain close contact and enhance diplomatic coordination for peace in the Middle East.273b8b
These engagements come as Pakistan actively mediates to revive stalled US-Iran talks. Field Marshal Munir’s Tehran visit was part of broader diplomatic shuttling, including meetings with Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and other senior officials. Pakistan has positioned itself as a key facilitator given its strategic relations with both Iran and the West.
The discussions underscore the deep brotherly ties between Pakistan and Iran and their shared interest in de-escalation and stability in the region.
