WANA / SOUTH WAZIRISTAN — Pakistan’s security forces successfully repelled an infiltration attempt by the proscribed Fitna al-Khawarij terrorist group in the Angoor Adda border area of South Waziristan, and launched a decisive retaliatory operation against Afghan Taliban positions after militants targeted Pakistani civilians, destroying several Afghan checkposts along the frontier.
According to security sources, Fitna al-Khawarij militants attempted to cross into Pakistani territory through the Angoor Adda corridor, but were thwarted by the Pakistan Army in a swift and effective response.
Following the failed infiltration attempt, Afghan Taliban fighters allegedly opened fire on the civilian population in the Zalul Khel area of Angoor Adda, wounding three civilians, including two women. The injured were evacuated and transferred to a hospital in Wana, where they are receiving medical treatment.
Pakistan’s armed forces responded forcefully to the unprovoked attack on civilians, neutralising multiple Afghan border checkposts in a targeted counter-operation.
This incident marks another serious escalation along the Pakistan-Afghanistan border. Islamabad has repeatedly urged the Afghan Taliban administration to prevent its soil from being used as a launchpad for terrorist activities against Pakistan. Pakistani military officials have made clear that protecting the lives of civilians remains a non-negotiable priority and that proportionate responses to cross-border aggression will continue.
The situation remains under close monitoring by Pakistan’s security establishment.
