LAHORE, May 3: Provincial Minister for Housing and Urban Development, Bilal Yasin, has said that rising oil prices have contributed to an increase in inflation, expressing hope that the situation will stabilize soon.
He made these remarks while holding a khuli kachehri (open court) in his constituency, where he listened to citizens’ complaints. A large number of people attended the session and presented their issues.
During the open court, directions were issued to WASA, LESCO, Sui Gas, and other relevant departments for the immediate resolution of public complaints. The minister also instructed authorities to accelerate the pace of ongoing development projects in the constituency.
Bilal Yasin stated that the purpose of such open courts is to directly hear public grievances and ensure their prompt redressal. He emphasized that issues related to water supply, sewerage, sanitation, and development works are being addressed on a priority basis.
He further remarked that sustainable planning and effective resolution of public problems depend on the continuity of the democratic process and the strengthening of institutions. He maintained that despite loans and financial pressures, the national economy is not facing the severe risks as previously portrayed.
Highlighting inflationary pressures, the provincial minister said that the recent surge in oil prices has triggered a wave of inflation, but expressed confidence that conditions will improve in the near future.
He also noted that the Chief Minister Punjab has introduced relief measures for the public, including free travel facilities, while development projects, infrastructure, and welfare programs are being expanded across all districts of the province.
