LAHORE: Principal of Amir-ud-Din Medical College, Prof. Dr. Farooq Afzal, has introduced a Smart Management System at Lahore General Hospital (LGH) aimed at further improving patient care, discipline, and cleanliness standards.
Under the new system, Deputy Medical Superintendents (DMS) have been fully empowered to ensure the implementation of government SOPs during their respective shifts and will be held directly accountable for any negligence.
Prof. Farooq Afzal directed sanitary inspectors and supervisors to maintain the highest standards of hygiene across the hospital premises, ensure staff attendance, and oversee the scientific disposal of waste at the ground level.
Regarding security, guards have been instructed to remain vigilant and strictly enforce the “one patient, one attendant” policy to reduce overcrowding in wards, while maintaining a polite and respectful attitude toward visitors.
In line with the Punjab government’s priorities, the principal also directed administrative doctors to adopt an “Open Door Policy” to ensure the immediate resolution of public complaints.
Furthermore, nursing administration, nursing supervisors, and ward sisters have been made responsible for maintaining discipline and ensuring timely updates of medical charts in their respective units.
The policy also mandates that no administrative doctor or healthcare professional may leave their post without formally handing over charge to the next shift. Paramedical staff attendance will be strictly monitored through a biometric system, and any unauthorized absence will result in immediate disciplinary action.
Prof. Farooq Afzal reiterated that a strict “Zero Tolerance Policy” has been enforced regarding discipline and patient care, emphasizing that no lapse in duty will be tolerated.
