LAHORE: Punjab Police officers and personnel remained on high alert while performing security duties during Christian worship and prayer programs held in churches across the province, including Lahore.
Earlier, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Punjab Abdul Kareem issued special instructions to Regional Police Officers (RPOs) and District Police Officers (DPOs) to enhance the security of churches and ensure foolproof arrangements.
He directed supervisory officers to personally inspect security measures at churches and other important locations. Additional police personnel and snipers were deployed at sensitive churches, while teams of Dolphin Squad, Police Response Unit (PRU), and Elite Force were assigned to ensure effective patrolling around church premises.
The IG Punjab instructed that all deployed officers and personnel must remain highly alert and keep strict surveillance on any suspicious activity. He also ordered that search and sweep operations be continued around churches, Christian localities, and other sensitive areas.
Abdul Kareem further emphasized the importance of interfaith harmony, urging religious scholars, members of the Christian community, and peace committee representatives to play their role in promoting unity and peaceful coexistence.
