LAHORE: Secretary Sports Punjab Fazlur Rehman chaired an important meeting of the Departmental Development Sub-Committee at the Punjab Stadium on Monday, where nine sports and youth affairs schemes were approved.
The meeting was attended by Director General Sports Punjab Muhammad Tariq Qureshi, Director General Punjab Information Technology Board Sajid Latif, along with officers from the Planning & Development and Finance departments. DG PITB Sajid Latif and his team presented a detailed briefing on proposed e-sports initiatives, including the establishment of an E-Sports Lab.
Addressing participants, Fazlur Rehman announced that open-air gyms and play areas will be developed in 500 parks across Punjab to promote physical activity and community engagement.
He further revealed that the “Chief Minister Khelta Punjab Health Insurance Card” will be introduced to provide quality healthcare facilities to thousands of athletes. In addition, the “Chief Minister Youth Engagement Program” is set to be launched to enhance youth participation in constructive activities.
Highlighting future plans, the secretary said an e-sports program will be initiated, with a target of participating in the Esports World Cup 2026. He also announced the construction of sports complexes and stadiums in South Punjab.
Moreover, the “Chief Minister Punjab Free Kits Program” will be launched to support athletes, as part of broader efforts to promote sports culture across the province in line with the vision of Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz.
