The NAJAF delegation included Kanwal Naseem, Rabia Azmat, Nabeela Akbar, Zahida Parveen Akram, Khalida Ashfaq, Nadia Amir, Amin Amir and other members alongside President Farzana Chaudhry.
Upon arrival, President of Riaz Mansoor Trust, Muhammad Nafees, welcomed the delegation and presented a bouquet to Farzana Chaudhry.
While briefing the delegation about treatment facilities for thalassemia patients, Muhammad Nafees said that blood transfusions are being provided to hundreds of children and adults suffering from thalassemia, not only from Punjab but also from other provinces of Pakistan. He added that, besides free blood transfusion services, patients are also provided travel support of Rs1,000 for transportation expenses.
President of Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital, Muhammad Anis, informed the delegation that state-of-the-art operation theatres meeting international standards have been established in the hospital’s surgical tower. He said facilities for gynecology, orthopedics, general surgery, eye care and other treatments are being provided free of cost to deserving patients.
He further said that the hospital has established a modern laboratory equipped with advanced medical technology and supervised by trained medical staff to ensure quality and safe diagnostic services for patients.
Speaking on the occasion, Farzana Chaudhry said that Riaz Mansoor Trust is a shining example of humanitarian service. She remarked that serving suffering humanity selflessly is no less than an act of worship.
She stated that the hospital has become a messiah for thalassemia children and a ray of hope for their grieving parents. “There is no doubt that Riaz Mansoor Trust Hospital is playing a vital role in bringing smiles back to the faces of innocent children,” she added.
Farzana Chaudhry appreciated the efforts of Muhammad Nafees and his team, saying that the National Women Journalists Forum salutes their dedication and humanitarian services.
She further emphasized that awareness campaigns regarding the prevention of thalassemia are essential and urged the government to approve mandatory blood screening tests before marriage to help prevent the spread of the disease.
Later, the delegation visited various departments of Riaz Mansoor Trust, including the Thalassemia Center, Blood Transfusion Center and General Ward. The delegation spent time with children undergoing treatment, prayed for their speedy recovery and appreciated the quality healthcare facilities being provided by the hospital.
