Dhaka, Bangladesh – Bangladesh secured a commanding 104-run victory over Pakistan in the first Test match at Mirpur on Tuesday, handing the visitors a disappointing defeat in the opening encounter of the series.
Chasing a target of 268 runs, Pakistan’s second innings collapsed dramatically as they were bowled out for just 163 runs. The visitors lost their first wicket for just 3 runs, and the batting lineup struggled throughout the final day.
Top scorer for Pakistan was Abdullah Shafique with a fighting 66, while Salman Agha contributed 26. Other notable scores included Shan Masood (2), Azan Awais (15), Saud Shakeel (15), Hasan Khan (12), Hasan Ali (1) and Noman Ali (4).
Bangladesh had declared their second innings at 240 for 9 earlier on the fifth day. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto top-scored with 87, well supported by Mominul Haque’s 56.
