Islamabad / Abu Dhabi — Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has issued a strong condemnation of the drone attack carried out on a nuclear energy facility in the United Arab Emirates, calling it a dangerous provocation that threatens regional and global stability.
In an official statement, the Prime Minister said Pakistan unequivocally condemns any attack on nuclear installations, describing such acts as a grave threat not only to the UAE’s sovereignty but to international peace and security at large.
“We stand in complete solidarity with the leadership and brotherly people of the United Arab Emirates,” the statement read.
PM Shehbaz urged all parties involved to exercise maximum restraint and fulfill their obligations under international law, warning against any escalation that could destabilize the wider region.
The UAE’s Barakah Nuclear Power Plant — the Arab world’s first and largest civilian nuclear energy project — has been a landmark development in the region’s clean energy sector. An attack on such a facility raises serious concerns under international humanitarian and nuclear safety law.
The international community has been called upon to take note of this alarming development and ensure accountability for those responsible.
