LAHORE: Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122 will remain on high alert across all tehsils of the province during the Eid-ul-Adha holidays to ensure timely emergency response services, Secretary Emergency Services Department Dr. Rizwan Naseer said while reviewing district emergency plans.
Chairing a meeting on the Eid-ul-Adha Emergency Plan, Dr. Rizwan Naseer directed all District Emergency Officers (DEOs) to ensure foolproof arrangements for the provision of ambulance, rescue, water rescue, and fire services throughout Punjab during the holidays. He also stressed the need for close coordination with district and tehsil headquarters hospitals for effective management of victims in case of any untoward incident.
The meeting was attended by Directors of Emergency Services, heads of various wings, while DEOs from across Punjab joined through video link. During the session, district officers briefed the secretary on preparedness measures, implementation strategies, major challenges, and coordination plans for ensuring efficient emergency response during Eid.
The head of operations informed the meeting that more than 12,000 rescuers would be deployed across Punjab in three shifts at over 1,000 key locations during Eid holidays. Around 2,300 rescue motorbikes, 896 emergency ambulances, and 316 fire vehicles will remain operational across the province.
Special rescue posts will also be established at major Eid prayer venues to provide emergency cover to citizens. Meanwhile, the Provincial Emergency Operation Centre at the Emergency Services Headquarters will function round-the-clock to monitor and ensure effective implementation of district emergency plans.
District Emergency Officers informed the meeting that emergency response and management plans had been finalized in consultation with Deputy Commissioners and other stakeholders through District Emergency Board meetings to deal effectively with any emergency situation during Eid holidays.
On the occasion, Dr. Rizwan Naseer urged citizens to drive carefully while travelling to their hometowns and avoid overeating to prevent choking, food poisoning, and gastroenteritis emergencies. He also advised people visiting water recreational sites during Eid vacations to strictly follow safety precautions, including wearing life jackets before entering water or boats.
The secretary further appealed to young motorcyclists to avoid dangerous stunts such as one-wheeling and extended Eid Mubarak wishes to citizens on behalf of Punjab Emergency Service Rescue 1122.
