Islamabad — The federal government of Pakistan has decided to provide significant relief to citizens by slashing petroleum product prices, describing it as an “Eid gift” to the nation.
According to a statement issued by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday, the prices of petrol and high-speed diesel (HSD) have been reduced by Rs22 per litre each. The new rates will take effect from midnight tonight (May 30, 2026).
New Prices (effective May 30, 2026):
Petrol: Rs381.78 per litre
High-Speed Diesel: Rs380.78 per litre
The reduction comes amid declining international crude oil prices. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that providing relief to the masses remains a top priority for his government. This marks the third consecutive weekly reduction in fuel prices, following earlier cuts.
The move is expected to lower transportation costs, ease inflationary pressure on essential commodities, and benefit commuters, businesses, and the agriculture sector. Analysts view it as a timely relief measure after months of economic challenges.
