Washington — US President Donald Trump blasted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in a heated phone call, calling him “crazy” and “ungrateful” over Israel’s continued strikes on Lebanon, according to American media reports. Officials described it as the worst call between the two leaders since Trump began his second term.
The confrontation was triggered by Iran’s threat to suspend nuclear talks with Washington if Israeli attacks on Lebanon did not stop. Trump warned Netanyahu to halt strikes on Beirut immediately, saying Israel risked becoming completely isolated in the international community.
Trump also reminded Netanyahu of his corruption trials, telling him: “If it weren’t for me, you’d be in jail.” Netanyahu reportedly responded with little more than repeated “okay, okay.”
