Saint Petersburg, — Ukrainian drones struck Russia’s second-largest city, Saint Petersburg, just as the country’s flagship annual economic gathering — long dubbed “Russia’s Davos” — got underway, in a dramatic escalation of Kyiv’s long-range strike campaign.
The attack marks one of the most symbolically charged strikes of the war, targeting a major Russian city at the precise moment it was hosting global investors and officials at the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum (SPIEF).
Ukraine has been intensifying strikes deep into Russian territory as the grinding war enters a new phase. Russian air defence units were activated across the region. Casualty and damage figures are yet to be confirmed by independent sources.
The strike sends a stark message: no part of Russia remains beyond reach.
