The UK, Australia and Canada announced on Thursday the launch of a new international peace fund to support efforts toward a two-state solution between Israel and Palestine. In a joint statement, the three countries said the multi-donor fund would finance projects aimed at building the conditions needed for a negotiated two-state solution.
According to the governments, the initiative will complement ongoing diplomatic, humanitarian and development efforts, supporting organizations working to promote peacebuilding and mutual understanding. Each country will initially contribute £1 million (around $1.3 million) over the next three years, with the fund remaining open to contributions from other international partners.
The announcement comes as the war in Gaza and rising tensions across the Middle East have reinvigorated global diplomatic efforts toward a two-state solution, after years of largely stalled peace talks marked by violence, settlement expansion and a worsening humanitarian crisis.
