LAHORE: The Punjab Assembly has approved a resolution presented by Provincial Minister for Primary and Secondary Healthcare Khawaja Salman Rafique (PP-153), expressing grief over the loss of innocent lives in Iran and commending Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts in promoting regional peace and stability.
The resolution paid tribute to Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for what it described as their effective diplomatic role during the recent tensions involving Iran and the United States. It stated that their efforts helped avert a wider conflict and contributed to safeguarding regional and global peace.
Speaking on the occasion, Khawaja Salman Rafique said Pakistan expresses profound sorrow and regret over the martyrdom of innocent civilians, including women and children, as a result of recent attacks and aggression in Iran.
“We express deep sorrow and regret over the martyrdom of innocent civilians, women and children. This resolution strongly condemns cruelty, oppression and violations of human rights,” he said.
The minister stated that the federal government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, is actively pursuing diplomatic initiatives at the international level, providing support to affected populations, and working to promote peace and stability across the region.
He further said that Pakistan remains committed to upholding humanitarian values and supporting all efforts aimed at reducing tensions and preventing further loss of life.
The resolution also paid tribute to the Prime Minister and the Pakistan Armed Forces for their role in safeguarding Pakistan’s national sovereignty, promoting regional peace, and upholding human values.
