LAHORE, July 9, 2026: Authorities have clarified that the supply of natural gas across Pakistan remains uninterrupted, dismissing recent media reports suggesting that a fresh wave of supply disruptions or force majeure has affected gas consumers.
According to an official statement, the reports created an inaccurate impression that gas supplies would be curtailed due to a new force majeure situation. However, officials emphasized that no changes have been made to gas supplies, and consumers continue to receive gas without any new disruptions.
The statement explained that the force majeure declared by Qatar Energy in March 2026 has been extended periodically, including its latest extension communicated through SNGPL. Authorities stressed that this is a continuation of an existing situation and does not represent any new adverse development or reduction in gas supplies.
Officials further stated that the country’s gas supply has been effectively managed under the guidance of the National Coordination & Management Council (NCMC) and the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division). Indigenous gas production has been optimized, while LNG cargoes are being arranged regularly to meet national demand across all sectors.
The government assured that household gas demand during peak cooking hours is being fully met. Continuous gas supply to the industrial and fertilizer sectors has also been maintained to support economic activity, while special priority is being given to the power sector to help reduce electricity load shedding across the country.
The authorities reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring a stable and reliable gas supply and urged the public to rely on official information regarding the country’s energy situation.
