Islamabad/New York— In recent US airstrikes, multiple bridges, roads, tunnels, and energy-related infrastructure in Iran have been hit. According to Iranian media, the attacks focused on southern Hormozgan province (around Bandar Abbas), where at least six bridges and key communication routes were damaged.
Iranian state media reported that fresh US attacks targeted bridges, tunnels, highways, and other critical infrastructure. The strikes have caused civilian casualties, with dozens reported dead or injured so far.
The UN Secretary-General has expressed deep concern over the strikes. A UN spokesperson stated that attacks on civilian infrastructure are unacceptable and constitute serious violations of international humanitarian law. The UN called for maximum restraint and stepped-up diplomatic efforts for a peaceful resolution.

“Targeting civilian installations is a grave breach of international law.” According to the UN, such actions on water, electricity, and transport facilities risk triggering a humanitarian crisis, especially amid extreme heat and drought conditions.
Background
The strikes come amid escalating tensions over control of the Strait of Hormuz, where the US accuses Iran of targeting commercial vessels. President Donald Trump had threatened to hit power stations and bridges if Iran did not return to negotiations.
