WASHINGTON/TEHRAN — The US-Iran war entered its 11th consecutive day, with US Central Command confirming fresh strikes on aircraft hangars and drone storage sites inside Iran. President Trump said the US has no interest in meeting Iran for talks and warned that US forces could target Iranian areas near key uranium enrichment sites. He also threatened to bomb the underground “Pickaxe Mountain” nuclear facility near Natanz, prompting Iran’s military to warn that such a strike would trigger an “explosion of war” in the region.
Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told a Senate committee that war costs have reached approximately $37.5 billion, up from an earlier $29 billion estimate, with 18 US troops killed so far. Shipping traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has dropped sharply, and Secretary of State Marco Rubio called Iranian attacks on commercial vessels “unacceptable.” Iran has also struck US military sites and infrastructure in Kuwait, while Pakistan’s mediation efforts continue without a breakthrough.
