LAHORE: Chairman of the Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA), Moazzam Iqbal Sipra, has directed strict action against businesses failing to implement the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System (EIMS), reaffirming the Authority’s commitment to strengthening tax compliance and expanding the provincial tax base.
He issued the directives while chairing a performance review meeting focused on business registration, implementation of the Electronic Invoice Monitoring System, and tax collection across various divisions.
During the meeting, the Chairman instructed field officers to accelerate the campaign for the mandatory implementation of EIMS and intensify efforts to register new businesses, bringing more taxpayers into the formal tax net.
Moazzam Iqbal Sipra stressed that broadening the tax base and ensuring compliance with tax laws remain among the PRA’s top priorities to improve revenue generation and promote fair taxation.
He also directed officials to promptly address complaints regarding fake, unauthorised, or QR code-less invoices, warning that heavy penalties would be imposed on violators in accordance with the law.
The Chairman further cautioned that businesses involved in tax evasion or other violations of tax laws would remain under continuous monitoring and face strict legal action.
Highlighting the importance of digital transformation, Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said the promotion of digital tax systems is essential for enhancing transparency, improving taxpayer services and increasing provincial revenue. He added that effective enforcement, combined with digitalisation, is vital for strengthening tax administration and ensuring sustainable growth in tax collection.
