HAFIZABAD: Chief Minister’s Coordinator and MNA Saira Afzal Tarar has said that minorities, particularly the Christian community, have always played a vital role in the progress, prosperity, integrity and peace of Pakistan.
Addressing a function held in connection with International Minority Day, Saira Afzal Tarar said minority communities were enjoying freedom and constitutional rights in the country.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq was the chief guest at the event. Representatives of the Christian community and other officials also attended the function.
Saira Afzal Tarar said the Christian community had consistently cooperated with law-enforcement agencies and the district administration to promote interfaith harmony, tolerance, brotherhood and unity during religious events.
She said the Punjab government was taking various measures for the welfare of minority communities, including the issuance of special minority cards to provide financial assistance to deserving people with limited resources.
She added that the government was also making special security arrangements for minority communities during their religious events to ensure their safety and protection.
Deputy Commissioner Abdul Razzaq and representatives of the Christian community also addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of promoting interfaith harmony, tolerance and unity in society.
