Poetry Recital Held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal Lahore to Mark Independence Day

LAHORE: A poetry recital was held at Aiwan-e-Iqbal, Lahore, on August 11, 2026, under the auspices of Creator International to mark Pakistan’s Independence Day.
The event was presided over by renowned jurist, poet, writer and columnist Syed Mahmood-ul-Hassan Gilani, while renowned poet Arham Rohan served as the host. Poets and literary figures from across the country participated in the gathering.
The special guests included Professor Dr. Muhammad Nawaz Kanwal, Zaki-ud-Din Qureshi, Dr. Fazal Bano and Colonel Saadatullah.
Renowned poets, including Mumtaz Rashid Lahori, Ashfaq Falak, Mian Anis Ahmed, Matin Kashmiri, Dr. Nighat Khurshid, Mubay Asim, Meh Jabin Malik, Safia Khalida Sabri, Sarwar Khan Jund Karki, Mumtaz Bano, Shabnam Shaheen, Rubina Shaheen, Tahir Naeem, Nazar Bhinder, Wilayat Ahmed Farooqi and Wafa Tabassum Azar, recited their poetry.
National songs were also performed by Salmi Khan, Manahil Khan and Shahzadi Butt, adding a patriotic spirit to the ceremony.
Addressing the gathering, President Syed Mahmood-ul-Hassan Gilani said Pakistan was established in the name of the Holy Word and remained deeply dear to its people. He said the country was achieved through the sacrifices and struggles of the elders, and the nation must never forget those sacrifices.
He emphasized the importance of preserving the country’s unity and strengthening the spirit of patriotism among the people.
Following his presidential address, Syed Mahmood-ul-Hassan Gilani also presented his poetry before the audience.
At the conclusion of the poetry recital, host Arham Rohan thanked all participants, poets, guests and literary personalities for making the event successful. A dinner was also arranged for the guests at the end of the gathering.
