A Christian man in Egypt, Mina, won a free Umrah trip after participating in an Islamic contest — but instead of keeping the prize, he gave it to his Muslim neighbor, Um Ali (Mona), to fulfill her long-held wish.
According to Sky News Arabia, Mina came across a social media livestream hosted by Islamic preacher Dr. Ayman Abu Omar, where he saw his neighbor answering Quran-related questions in hopes of winning an Umrah trip. Realizing how much the journey meant to her, Mina decided to enter the contest himself.
“I am Christian, but I took part in an Islamic religious contest,” Mina explained, saying his sole aim was to win the prize for his neighbor. He submitted correct answers 50 to 60 times to improve his chances — and the strategy worked.
Um Ali was moved to tears when she learned the Umrah trip had been arranged for her. Mina said his bond with Um Ali and her family goes back more than two decades, and that he considers her like an older sister. The story has drawn widespread attention on social media in Egypt, with many praising it as a beautiful example of the close bonds between Muslim and Christian neighbors.
