LAHORE: A delegation of the Sialkot Chamber of Commerce and Industry met with Chairman Punjab Revenue Authority (PRA) Moazzam Iqbal Sipra to discuss tax-related issues being faced by the business community.

During the meeting, the delegation held detailed discussions with the PRA chairman on challenges confronting businesses and presented proposals aimed at making tax payment procedures easier and more convenient for the business community.

Chairman PRA Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said close coordination between government institutions and chambers of commerce was essential to promoting voluntary tax compliance.

He emphasized the importance of understanding the challenges faced by businesses while ensuring that taxpayers were adequately informed about applicable tax laws, regulations and procedures.

Members of the delegation observed that individuals involved in tax evasion, tax fraud and other fraudulent practices were not acting in the best interests of the country. They stressed the importance of strengthening the tax system while facilitating compliant businesses.

Moazzam Iqbal Sipra said facilitating the business community was among the top priorities of the Punjab government. He added that transparency in the tax system and the use of modern technology were being promoted to improve tax administration and make the taxation process more efficient.

The meeting concluded with a commitment to strengthen coordination between the PRA and the business community and to work towards resolving genuine tax-related issues faced by traders and industrialists.
