Former Pakistan wicketkeeper Moin Khan has called on authorities to provide former Prime Minister Imran Khan, currently imprisoned in Adiala Jail, with all necessary medical care as both a former head of government and a Pakistani citizen.
In a video statement, Moin Khan said his former captain’s health had deteriorated significantly. He appealed to the Pakistani government and jail authorities to respect Khan’s right to medical treatment and provide him with whatever he needs. He also urged fellow cricketers to raise their voices in support of Khan, praising his contributions to Pakistani cricket.
Imran Khan, 73, has been held at Adiala Jail in Rawalpindi since 2023 following a corruption conviction. Concerns over his continued detention and health have drawn criticism from his family and several former international cricketers.
Batting legend Javed Miandad also grew emotional while speaking about his longtime teammate’s imprisonment. Miandad, who played in six World Cups between 1975 and 1996, insisted Khan was not corrupt and called for his release. In a YouTube interview, he said: “He is an honest man. He is not among those involved in corruption.”
Separately, last week Khan’s sons Sulaiman and Qasim gave an interview to Michael Atherton at Lord’s during the second Test between England and Pakistan, alleging that their father is being held in solitary confinement for nearly 23 hours a day, citing his worsening health.
