Netanyahu Unfit to Remain Israeli PM ‘Even for a Minute,’ Opposition Demands Resignation

Tel Aviv (International Desk) — Israeli opposition parties have reacted with fury and demanded Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s resignation following revelations that he was warned in advance of the Hamas attack.
Israeli newspaper Haaretz published a report based on an excerpt from a forthcoming book by its journalists, revealing that the United Arab Emirates had warned Netanyahu ahead of the October 7, 2023 Hamas attack. According to the report, UAE President Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan spoke with Netanyahu about a week and a half before the attack and told him Hamas was planning a major operation.
Former Israeli Prime Minister Naftali Bennett has accused current PM Netanyahu of “criminal negligence” over the warnings he received before the October 7, 2023 attack, saying that despite clear warnings, Netanyahu neither informed security chiefs nor prepared the country for the situation.
Bennett, seen as a potential rival to Netanyahu in upcoming elections, confirmed the Haaretz report. Writing in Hebrew on X, he said the report published that morning was accurate — that Netanyahu had been warned 10 days before the October 7 massacre about the intentions of Hamas’s Gaza leader Yahya Sinwar. “Netanyahu bears personal and direct responsibility for this failure, which led to the deaths of thousands of Israelis during his tenure,” Bennett wrote. “He is no longer fit for this office.”
According to Haaretz’s investigation, the Emirati leader explicitly told Netanyahu that Sinwar was planning a major operation against Israel. Netanyahu’s office, for its part, has denied that any such meeting or conversation took place with the UAE president.
