SWAT: The suspect arrested in connection with the alleged rape and murder of nine-year-old orphan girl Ishmal denied the charges in court on Friday, while a large number of women took to the streets in Madyan, demanding justice for the child.
Police produced Sultan Mohammad before the court after the completion of his physical remand. Police had claimed that the suspect confessed to the crime during interrogation and that the alleged murder weapon was recovered from his possession. However, during the court proceedings, the suspect denied the allegations and was subsequently sent to Swat Jail.
Sultan Mohammad has been accused of allegedly assaulting Ishmal and killing her at his house in Madyan. The case has triggered widespread anger in the area, with residents staging repeated protests and demanding a transparent investigation and punishment in accordance with the law if the allegations are proved.
On Friday, women joined the protests in large numbers along with children and other residents. Carrying placards and banners, the protesters called for justice for Ishmal and demanded strict legal action against the accused.
The protesters described the killing of the innocent child as a deeply painful incident for the entire community. They urged the government and police to ensure justice for Ishmal’s family and take effective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
The participation of women in Friday’s demonstration was described by local residents as a significant development for Madyan, reflecting growing public concern and demands for justice in the case.
