LAHORE: Punjab Governor Sardar Saleem Haider Khan has said that peace and stability are indispensable for promoting business activities and ensuring sustainable economic growth in the country.
Addressing the oath-taking ceremony of newly elected Chairman Adyan Sadiq Lone and other office-bearers of the Outdoor Advertising Association at Governor House, Lahore, he said the continuity of business activities was vital for the growth and stability of the national economy.
Provincial Minister for Housing Bilal Yaseen administered the oath to the newly elected office-bearers of the association.
The Governor said the public had rejected the politics of protest and anarchy, adding that those attempting to disrupt national progress were harming the country’s development.
He said Pakistan had become a nuclear power and that the next goal should be to put the country on the path of economic progress and self-reliance.
Sardar Saleem Haider Khan said sustained economic development was essential for the country’s prosperity and stressed the importance of maintaining an environment conducive to business and investment.
He further said politicians remained accountable at all times and on every forum. Politics pursued with the objective of serving the people, he added, was akin to an act of worship.
The Governor said his mission was to address the problems of underprivileged segments of society whose grievances often remained unheard.
Speaking at the ceremony, Provincial Minister Bilal Yaseen said the outdoor advertising industry played an important role in the national economy and contributed significantly to the growth of the media sector.
He said the government was committed to providing relief to both the business community and the general public and was taking comprehensive measures to promote business activities and facilitate industries.
The minister said investment and the adoption of modern technology in the advertising industry would be encouraged.
He expressed hope that the newly elected leadership of the Outdoor Advertising Association would play an effective role in promoting the development of the sector and improving the welfare of people associated with the industry.
