KARACHI: Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi visited Karachi Port on Tuesday to inspect 21 new vehicles imported from China for Islamabad’s Rescue 1122 and Fire Brigade services, the first major expansion of the fleet since 2009.
According to a briefing, the consignment includes four fire aerial trucks, six fire towers and five fire tenders. The vehicles are equipped with modern technology and can conduct operations at heights of up to 256 feet.
The vehicles will be transported from Karachi to Islamabad within five days and will be stationed across six stations in the capital.
Speaking on the occasion, Naqvi described the arrival of the new vehicles as a welcome development and thanked the Chinese government for their swift delivery.
Senior officials from Customs, the Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Islamabad chief commissioner’s office and the National Logistics Cell (NLC) were also present during the visit.
