LAHORE: Flour supply is continuing uninterrupted across Punjab, with flour mills supplying the commodity throughout the province after grinding wheat procured from both government and private sources, Director General Food Punjab Amjad Hafeez said on Wednesday.
He said there was no shortage of flour in the market and that the Punjab government was continuously monitoring the situation to ensure the uninterrupted supply of quality flour to consumers.
According to Amjad Hafeez, flour mills across Punjab ground government-procured wheat on October 7 and supplied 225,998 bags of 10kg flour to markets at the prescribed price of Rs1,100 per bag.
Similarly, after grinding wheat procured from private sources, flour mills supplied 165,579 bags of 10kg flour and 39,634 bags of 20kg flour to districts across the province.
He said a total of 470,845 bags of 10kg flour were supplied to all districts of Punjab on October 7, adding that the availability and supply situation remained normal.
The DG Food said flour mills across the province were operating as usual and all necessary measures were being taken to maintain a stable flour supply chain.
He said the Punjab government was continuously monitoring the demand, availability and supply of flour to ensure that citizens did not face any difficulty in obtaining the essential commodity.
Amjad Hafeez further said that no disruption in flour supply would be allowed. He added that relevant departments were actively taking action against hoarding, profiteering and attempts to create an artificial shortage of flour in accordance with the law.
The DG Food Punjab said the provincial government was continuing all possible measures to ensure sufficient and uninterrupted flour supplies across the province.
