Riyadh: Saudi authorities said three people were killed and 10 others, including a Pakistani national, were injured in separate attacks on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam and Aramco’s Shaybah oil field in the kingdom’s Eastern Province on Wednesday.
Saudi Arabia’s Energy Ministry said falling debris from an intercepted drone targeting a processing facility at the Shaybah oil field killed two people and injured two others. The deceased were identified as Filipino and Nepali nationals, while the injured included Pakistani and Indian nationals.
The Saudi General Authority of Civil Aviation said one person was killed and eight others injured in the attack on King Fahd International Airport in Dammam, which also caused material damage to the airport.
Yemen’s Houthis have carried out a series of attacks on Saudi airports, civilian areas and oil facilities in recent days. Riyadh’s King Khalid International Airport had been closed since October 10 following a severe attack.
Amid the escalation, the US State Department ordered non-essential staff at its embassy in Riyadh and satellite consulates, along with their families, to leave Saudi Arabia.
