ISLAMABAD:Report By Muhammad Saleem
Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly Mahmood Khan Achakzai has said that if the government is serious about political dialogue, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif should personally invite the opposition, adding that those who mock negotiations cannot be trusted.
He said the opposition had sought a meeting with the PTI founder for political talks, while Maulana Fazlur Rehman had met the prime minister due to the opposition’s seriousness. Achakzai said talks would not be held in a mocking manner.
Achakzai invited the prime minister for tea in the Opposition Chamber and said that if Shehbaz Sharif did not come there, he could invite him for coffee at his office. The opposition alliance’s spokesperson said the prime minister could meet Achakzai at his office, while formal talks could be held in Parliament’s Constitution Room, Rana Sanaullah’s residence or Tariq Fazal Chaudhry’s residence.
Federal Minister Rana Sanaullah had earlier said the prime minister was ready to talk to all political parties, but the opposition leader had declined an invitation to meet him in the Speaker’s Chamber.
Achakzai also demanded the formation of an inquiry committee, headed by Khawaja Asif, to investigate corruption allegations against the incumbent government.
