Washington — U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday said the Department of Education will soon issue new guidelines to protect prayer in public schools.
Speaking at a religious freedom event in the capital, Trump stated:
> “I am pleased to announce that the Department of Education will soon issue new guidance to safeguard the right to pray in our public schools.”
He highlighted a case in Texas, where a student allegedly faced disciplinary action for trying to organize classmates to pray for an injured peer.
Trump argued that while the Bible was once a common presence in American classrooms, many schools today push “anti-religion propaganda” that discourages students from practicing their faith — with some even being punished for their beliefs.
“This is ridiculous,” Trump said, pledging stronger protections for students’ religious freedoms.
