Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development, Chaudhry Salik Hussain, held a meeting in Doha with a 40-member delegation representing the Pakistani community in Qatar, which comprises more than 300,000 overseas workers.
The delegation included entrepreneurs, professionals, and representatives of skilled and semi-skilled workers. Secretary Workers Welfare Fund Zulfiqar Ahmed and Pakistan’s Deputy Head of Mission in Doha also attended the meeting.
During the discussion, the minister listened to the community’s concerns and suggestions, noting that, under the directives of Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, most of the recommendations presented at the recent Overseas Pakistanis Conference have already been implemented, with work on the remaining proposals progressing swiftly.
Chaudhry Salik Hussain directed the embassy officials to launch an awareness campaign to inform overseas Pakistanis about the government’s welfare programs, ensuring that more expatriates can benefit from available facilities. He also instructed that in the event of a worker’s death abroad, families should receive complete support and guidance in processing insurance claims.
Reaffirming the government’s commitment, the minister emphasized that overseas Pakistanis remain a top priority, assuring that they can directly contact him for the resolution of their issues.
The community members expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, Chief of Army Staff Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, and Minister Chaudhry Salik Hussain for their continued efforts toward the welfare of overseas Pakistanis. They also commended the reforms in the Overseas Pakistanis Foundation (OPF) and acknowledged the minister’s personal dedication to improving services for the Pakistani diaspora.
