Islamabad: Prime Minister of Pakistan received a telephone call from the President of the Islamic Republic of Iran, Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian, on Thursday afternoon. The conversation lasted for more than thirty minutes.
This was the first contact between the two leaders since the signing of the historic Islamabad Peace Deal.
The Prime Minister congratulated President Pezeshkian, the Iranian leadership, and the people of Iran on the signing of the landmark agreement. He said the deal would not only contribute to restoring peace and stability in the region but would also support Iran’s reconstruction efforts and further strengthen Pakistan-Iran relations across all areas of mutual interest.
The Prime Minister also conveyed his respectful regards to Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ayatollah Sayyid Mojtaba Hosseini Khamenei.
While commending Iran’s decision to sign the peace agreement, the Prime Minister wished the Iranian side success in the next phase of negotiations and reaffirmed Pakistan’s continued support for Iran as a brotherly neighboring country.
President Pezeshkian, on behalf of the Iranian nation and personally, thanked the Prime Minister and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir for their critical role in facilitating the mediation process with sincerity and skill, which helped ensure the success of the agreement.
The Iranian President stated that Iran would always remember Pakistan’s constructive efforts and support during a difficult period. He also conveyed his best wishes to the people of Pakistan and expressed Tehran’s desire to further expand bilateral cooperation with Pakistan in all fields of mutual interest.
Both leaders agreed to visit each other’s capitals at the earliest opportunity to advance bilateral cooperation and coordinate on regional matters. They also agreed to remain in close contact in the coming days.
