Lahore, October 27, 2025 — In line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s “Hunarmand Nojawan” vision of empowering women through technology, skills, and financial inclusion, the Punjab Skills Development Fund (PSDF) organized a Desktop Distribution Ceremony in Lahore to mark the launch of Phase 2 and Phase 3 of its flagship program, Mein Digital — Empowering Rural Women by Way of IT Training (ERWIT).
During the ceremony, 77 women from Sheikhupura, Kasur, Gujrat, Sialkot, Nankana Sahib, and Narowal were awarded desktop computers to begin their digital learning journey from home. The participants were selected through a merit-based evaluation process and will now undertake a six-month online instructor-led training, covering modules on digital marketing, English language, e-commerce, basic IT skills, and content creation.
Speaking on the occasion, Adnan Afzal Chattha, Chairperson of the Chief Minister Punjab Task Force for Skills Development, commended PSDF’s efforts to expand technology access and income-generation opportunities for rural women.
Ahmad Khan, CEO PSDF, highlighted the success of the initiative, stating, “Phase 1 has shown how powerful this program can be — women who had never touched a computer are now selling products online and contributing to household income. With Phases 2 and 3, seventy-seven more women from six districts are stepping confidently into the digital economy.”
Following the overwhelming response to Phase 1, the Mein Digital initiative has demonstrated its potential to transform lives. Graduates from the first phase have already begun utilizing their newly acquired digital skills to earn from home, breaking traditional economic barriers and setting examples of women-led empowerment in rural Punjab.
Adnan Afzal Chattha reiterated that Mein Digital is a practical realization of the Chief Minister’s vision to empower women at the grassroots level through digital access and skills training. “When women are empowered, households prosper and communities progress,” he said.
