LAHORE (International Desk) — Former candidates of the proscribed Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) have announced their withdrawal from the party, distancing themselves from what they termed “violent and unconstitutional actions.”
Speaking at a press conference held at the Lahore Press Club, Barrister Usman Khizar Mangat, a former TLP ticket holder, said that attacking the state can never be justified, calling the recent rally during an “extraordinary situation” a highly inappropriate move.
He added, “If the state itself is in danger, then politics serves no purpose — there can be no politics against the state.” Mangat also condemned the incidents in which armed groups hijacked school vans and damaged both public and private property.
Reaffirming their loyalty to the State of Pakistan, Barrister Mangat said that no political group can sustain itself through violence. He urged political actors to uphold peace and stability, emphasizing that his group stands firmly with the state and rejects all violent protests.
