LAHORE: Pakistan Dr Anasb ali Provincial Health Minister Khawaja Salman Rafique chaired an important meeting at the Specialized Healthcare and Medical Education Department to review cardiac treatment and healthcare services at the Nawaz Sharif Cardiac Center in Murree. Secretary Health Punjab Azmat Mahmood Khan, along with senior officials—including Special Secretary Operations Nabila Irfan, Special Secretary Development Benish Fatima Sahi, and several additional secretaries—attended the meeting. Executive Director of the Rawalpindi Institute of Cardiology Professor Musfirah, MS Syed Muhammad Hussain Samli Hospital, and Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center Dr. Qaiser Mahmood Abbasi also participated via video link.
The health minister stated that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif is committed to ensuring that the most advanced cardiac treatment facilities are made accessible to citizens at their doorstep. He emphasised that the credit for the swift improvement in cardiac services within just 18 months goes to the chief minister and the Punjab government.
Khawaja Salman Rafique noted that residents of Murree and surrounding areas are now receiving state-of-the-art cardiac care, while the Syed Muhammad Hussain Samli Hospital and Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center are poised to become leading treatment hubs. He added that the Punjab government is investing millions of rupees in modern cardiac machinery—a historic first for the province’s cardiac healthcare sector. The meeting also reviewed the latest updates on medical equipment availability and human resource planning for the institution.
Secretary Azmat Mahmood Khan said that clear directives have been issued to resolve HR-related and administrative issues without delay. He added that instructions have been given to improve patient facilities and ensure uninterrupted medicine supply for all registered patients at the Nawaz Sharif Cardiology Center in Murree.
