LAHORE — Punjab Minister for Information and Culture Azma Bokhari on Friday said that a letter written by members of the U.S. Congress to Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz is “encouraging and commendable,” noting that American lawmakers have acknowledged the chief minister’s strong leadership and reform-driven governance.
According to Bokhari, the U.S. legislators have praised Maryam Nawaz’s initiatives on brick-kiln reforms, labour rights, and environmental protection, describing her modernized brick-kiln model as an example for the entire South Asian region.
She said the lawmakers also recognized the Punjab government’s efforts to eliminate forced labour from the brick-kiln sector, adding that these measures fulfill key international obligations and strengthen Pakistan’s global commitments to human rights.
Azma Bokhari stated that the U.S. Congress believes Maryam Nawaz’s reform agenda has created new investment opportunities for American companies and made Punjab a more attractive destination for foreign investors. The letter further notes that the province has the potential to become a gateway for future economic cooperation.
She added that the appreciation from U.S. lawmakers reflects growing international confidence in Maryam Nawaz’s governance model. “Her commitment to development, welfare, and institutional reform is earning recognition at the global level,” Bokhari said.
