LAHORE: The second day of SOT Events Edition XIX commenced with the Beaconhouse Distinguished Alumni Awards, presented by the Beaconhouse Old Students Society (BOSS). The annual ceremony celebrates the exceptional achievements of Beaconhouse alumni across diverse fields. Federal Minister for Information & Broadcasting Ata Tarar and Punjab Finance Minister Mian Mujtaba Shuja-ur-Rehman presented the awards, honouring Beaconites who have made significant contributions to their professions, communities, and society at large.
The day featured a dynamic lineup of speakers, including Sarah Ahmad, MPA Punjab and Chairperson of the Child Protection & Welfare Bureau, who praised Beaconhouse for consistently creating a national platform where pressing social issues are addressed with sincerity and a commitment to impact-driven change. She said SOT provides a unique space where youth, experts and policymakers come together to confront challenges and envision a better future.
Among the other prominent speakers were Ali Azmat, Mekaal Hassan, Tahira Syed, Humayun Bashir Tarar, Daniyal Raheal, Badar Khushnood, Naveed Shahzad, Dr Moeed Yusuf, Fahad Mirza, Deepak Perwani, Nasim Zehra, Tamkenat Mansoor, Hajra Yamin and Amber Rahim Shamsi. Their discussions covered an extensive range of topics — from the humanitarian crisis in Palestine to child protection, self-esteem, entrepreneurship, art, music, cultural identity and global development. These conversations reflected SOT Events’ ongoing role in deepening public understanding and fostering critical discourse.
Beyond panel discussions, SOT XIX offered a lively array of creative and interactive experiences, including live music, artist talks and the Social Junction — a bustling space featuring food stalls, entertainment and immersive installations. The day concluded with an energetic concert by Farhan Saeed and Abdul Hannan, bringing a celebratory close to a day filled with ideas, expression and inspiration.
