ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Chief of Army Staff and Chief of Defence Forces, Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, delivered a powerful address at the National Ulema and Mashaikh Conference, emphasizing Pakistan’s historic role in the Muslim world and urging national unity in the face of regional challenges.
Field Marshal Munir highlighted the historic and ideological bond between the State of Madinah and the State of Pakistan, stating that this foundation continues to guide the nation. He noted that Pakistan holds the unique honour of being entrusted with the responsibility to safeguard the Haramain Sharifain, calling it a sacred privilege.
Warning against intellectual decline, he said, “Nations that abandon knowledge and the pen fall into chaos and disorder.” He reaffirmed that strength arises from unity, discipline, and knowledge — not division.
Addressing regional tensions, the Pakistani military chief stated:
“Terrorism is not Pakistan’s doctrine; it is India’s practice.”
“Pakistan confronts enemies openly and decisively, never from the shadows.”
He stressed that in an Islamic state, only the state has the authority to declare jihad, underscoring the rejection of non-state actors’ claims to religious warfare.
Calling on scholars to widen societal vision and promote harmony, he urged them to play a constructive role in maintaining unity and countering extremism.
Field Marshal Munir concluded with the declaration:
“Pakistan will always endure — Pakistan Zindabad.”
