Washington / Indian Ocean — Special Report
The US Department of Defense announced that American forces have conducted an operation against an unregistered oil tanker, M/T Majestic X, in the Indian Ocean, which was allegedly transporting Iranian crude oil in violation of international sanctions.
In an official statement posted on X (formerly Twitter), the Pentagon confirmed that the vessel was providing material support to Iran and was operating without valid registration.
The statement read:
“We will continue operations globally to dismantle illicit networks and interdict vessels providing material support to Iran.”
The seizure marks the latest in a series of US naval operations aimed at enforcing sanctions against Tehran. Washington has intensified maritime patrols across international waters to choke off Iranian oil exports.
The incident is expected to further escalate tensions between Washington and Tehran amid an already volatile regional situation.
