LAHORE: Under the public-friendly policing vision of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, the Punjab Police’s flagship initiative, Tahaffuz Manzil & Foster Home, has recorded another notable success by providing protection and rehabilitation to a distressed Sindhi family.
According to a Punjab Police spokesperson, a family from Nawabshah, Sindh, fled to Punjab after facing prolonged domestic violence and internal disputes. Upon their arrival in Lahore, the family was provided immediate protection and assistance by Punjab Police.
The family, including minor girls, reached Lahore in a vulnerable and distressed condition. Personnel at the Police Tahaffuz Centre near Data Darbar intervened promptly, rescuing the children and preventing them from becoming homeless.
The spokesperson said that the women from the family were shifted to the Punjab Police’s Tahaffuz Manzil Foster Home, where they were provided with safe shelter and care. The Tahaffuz Manzil team later traced the woman’s relatives and husband and facilitated structured counselling sessions aimed at resolving the family dispute.
Through the personal efforts of Director Tahaffuz Manzil, Maida Raza, the differences between the husband and wife were resolved. Following reconciliation, the women and children were safely reunited with their family and sent back to their hometown.
Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, said that Tahaffuz Manzil Foster Home has emerged as a critical support system for women who flee their homes due to violence, missing children, and other vulnerable individuals. He added that the initiative not only ensures protection and care but also focuses on rehabilitation through education, counselling, and skills training, enabling women and children to become responsible and productive members of society.
Dr. Anwar described Tahaffuz Manzil as “a beacon of hope” for women and children in distress, reaffirming Punjab Police’s commitment to victim-centered and humanitarian policing.
