Washington/Damascus: The U.S. military has carried out airstrikes on ISIS positions in Syria in response to attacks on American forces, according to reports from foreign media.
U.S. President Donald Trump stated that those attacking American personnel would face a stronger response than ever before. He emphasized that the strikes targeting ISIS positions in Syria are being conducted with full support from the Syrian government.
“Retaliatory strikes are underway as promised, and anyone attacking the U.S. will face harsher consequences,” President Trump said in a statement regarding the operations.
The U.S. Navy reported that, using fighter jets, attack helicopters, and artillery, 70 ISIS targets in central Syria were hit during the coordinated strikes.
Meanwhile, the Syrian government confirmed it would continue its military operations against ISIS, signaling coordination with U.S.-led efforts in the region.
